Welcome to Bay Woof, January 2025
Training for Life!
We hope your holidays went smoothly and that you’re ready, as are we, to head into the new year with our best furry friends along for the ride.
January is our annual training issue, but here at Bay Woof, we know that training a dog is more than a once-a-year event. Many of our pups can do the basics: sit, down, maybe even a shake or two. But it gets harder if our pal is reactive to other dogs or people, turning a simple walk into a wrestling match - or worse, a dangerous gauntlet amid traffic, toxic trash, other reactive dogs, and more.
Training is certainly about safety, but it’s also about far more than that. It’s about building the relationship between caretaker and dog, a daily engagement that serves to build trust and establish a means of mutual communication. In our annual training edition, we focus on the heart of the matter: training for a dog’s whole life.
To start the new year off right, we’ve got training features from some of our favorite pros in the biz including Sara Scott, Dan Perdios, Ren Volpe, and Cyd True. The rest of the January pack is in fine form as well, with S. Emerson Moffat, R. U. Steinberg, Michael Angelo Torres, and Amy Luwis rounding out the issue with their own unique takes on all things dog.
So pull up a screen and toast to Auld Lang Syne with a dog bowl full of happiness and your best pal by your side. And if you’ve got some spare change to support your favorite dog lover’s publication, we welcome your contributions to our winter fundraiser.
From all of us at Bay Woof, may 2025 be your best year ever!
